Violence is a Result of Anger

Anger can make a person do something they normally wouldn't do. You can become out of control and not realize what you're doing. Your face gets hot, and the world stops. The only thing you're thinking about is what has made you so angry. Revenge is your number one priority. When you're in the moment, you don't think about the consequences of revenge, or even the way you will feel like after you seek revenge. You might hit someone, you might yell at someone, maybe spread a rumor... or you could even kill someone. Once you do some thing like this, you can't take it back. Was it worth it? Do you feel better now? At first, you will probably feel good. You will probably feel like you finished the problem. "They deserved it" is what you will think. The next day, or even the next hour after, if you're an average person, you will feel remorse, you'll want to take back what you have done. Some people have no conscience, so they do not feel the regret and sorry feeling that most of us will have after doing something like this. These people are so consumed by hate and anger, that they will feel so much better after doing something to hurt someone, and will never regret what they do. Jack, in Lord Of The Flies by William Golding, is one of these few people. He has killed, hurt and said hurtful things to the other boys on the island, and it just makes him feel better and gives him a sense of leadership. Why is Jack so angry, and so consumed with the idea of hurting and killing? Maybe he has problems off the island, that has taken over his mind. He could have been born with a mental problem. It could be the fact that being on the island makes him mad. Whatever it is, this problem that Jack has, will be the down fall of all the boys on the island.
